NORTHWEST INDIANA, November 23, 2021 – Purdue Northwest Crunch, Ivylicious, and Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie. These are just a few of the unique custom flavors that Merrillville-based ChicagoLand Popcorn has created since opening its doors over 7-years ago. Nearly forty of its more than 250 recipes were either suggested by a guest or inspired by collaborating with a corporation, state agency, or university.
The latest creation, 8-Bit Mix, came about during a zoom meeting with a Warner Brothers Executive. “I came up with the name after Chareice White, Founder and Board Chairman of the ECIER Foundation, mentioned ChicagoLand Popcorn while we were finalizing details for the community screening of King Richard,” said Dwayne Walker, the VP of ECIER Foundation Board and Founder and CEO of ChicagoLand Popcorn. “Everyone thought that the creation of a promotional flavor was a great idea, so a few days later, we sent Warner Brothers several flavor options for approval.”
A combination of eight fruity flavors is the base for the 8-Bit Mix flavor. The new flavor, plus Strawberry Cheesecake were selected to be included in the promotional media kits that went out ahead of Wednesday’s movie release on HBO Max.
“As we work our way back from the pandemic’s impact, we are thankful for all business opportunities. When we sent the shipment to Los Angeles, I was reminded that, our road to recovery could come from some unexpected sources,” said Walker.
